Summer time!

Sun Aug 9, 2009, 8:23 AM
Hey all,

Been a while since I've posted any updates so here are a few! First of all, Austin's pretty hot in the summer, and having no AC in my car is really... interesting? I can cook things on the dashboard, my shift knob gives me blisters, and sitting in there makes me sweat like crazy yet somehow, I've not really been inspired to fix it. Maybe because it makes me feel like the guy in Death Proof, except when people sit in my car they just melt. The windows don't work either. So if I need air I open the door.

Anyway, summer's really been fun. Never a shortage of things to do, though it has been hard getting around to doing artwork at home. I decided recently to take up traditional painting at home so I could have stuff to put up on my walls. I picked up some acrylic paints and did some tests and slowly I'm building my way up to making something pleasant. I guess I could print stuff out, but I think you know it's just not the same. One of the interesting things I found is that I'm having to pay more attention to my palette because of how the finished piece would sit and read on a white wall. I think in the long run this will really help me diversify my work a little more. Guess we'll see how it goes, stay tuned!

So far so Good

Been getting the hang of Austin a bit. The more I see the more I like it. I got a tip that it was Eeyore's birthday on Saturday so I went to check it out and it was surprising how many people showed up. There were more hippies than kids there and pretty much all of them were smoking pot and acting accordingly...

Aside from that work seems to be going pretty well, and I've been putting some time into looking for my new home. Definitely a lot of interesting options out here so let's see what I end up with!

Terrible...

Ok so I get to Austin and everything is nice and dandy for the most part, and then I hear of this this Orphan Works bill... Unbelievable... Link below has some info. For those who have not yet heard, it suggests that any work an artist does is public domain unless registered in a commercial copyright office. Even currently registered material you might have is not safe.

It would basically allow anyone, or any company, to go on a site like DA or Conceptart.org and pick stuff out to use as they please. People will have to either pay who knows how much money to register it before posting, or simply not posting at all. Of course the bill has not been released so it may or may not be as bad as it seems, but considering that the people interested in this are not interested in the rights of workers the outlook is bad in my opinion...

Back to it.

As you can see, I've been back for a little bit now and as I said, now it's time to pack for my move to Austin, Texas! Only problem is I'm still tired from my trip out to Cali and I'd rather draw than do all this other stuff... or play disk golf, that's fun too. In fact, today was the first time I finished a course on par. Pretty sweet stuff...

Break Time!

Ok, I managed to get one character finished up before I've got to fly out to visit the family so I won't be posting much for a while. What's more, I finally got some work so I have to enjoy my little vacation while it lasts because when I get back I'm going to be moving to a new state! Very exciting stuff this all is and I can't wait to get to work!
